Macca To Provide The Mad Men With Music

He's no stranger to "swinging"

As the TV audiences everywhere – well, everywhere worth living – prepare for the return of the Mad Men crew, news has emerged that Brit rocker, Paul McCartney has got himself a slice of the musical action.

The legendary musician and former Beatle has given the show’s producers permission to use his material – including his latest album Kisses on the Bottom – in the 1960s-set period drama.

Now in its fifth series, Mad Men follows the intertwined lives of employees at New York ad agency, Stirling Cooper. Its use of classic retro styling and music of the fifties (and now sixties) has been credited with bringing about revivals for each of the decades it has touched.

Even the increase in the number of whisky-swigging youngsters has been linked with the popularity of the show, making it one of the most influential TV “brandsâ€? going.

“It’s perfect timing because his new music suits the programme perfectly,” a source told The Sun newspaper.

“Action in the show has now reached the Swinging ’60s. So it’s only right that the man who was pivotal to the era is now involved in the show.

“Macca could have a walk-on part if he wished but it’s unlikely that he’ll ask for a role. He’s more than happy just to supply the tunes.â€?

Shame. We fancy Don Draper facing a swarthy(ish) British rival in the love stakes and let’s face it, the guy saw that decade first time around.

What the “swinging ‘60sâ€? will bring for the gang is not yet clear, but here’s a snaeky peaky teaser trailer to whet your appetite….
