Stabby stabby stabby. The sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s exploit ’em up, Machete, imaginatively titled Machete Kills will start filming in April.
Deadline has this straight from the horse’s mouth, “The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance. “Machete is truly a super hero and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time.”
Kyle Ward’s written the new script with some last minute polishing by Rodriguez and his brother Marcel. It’ll see the eponymous Machete (Danny Trejo) recruited by the US goverment to track down a cartel leader who’s teamed up with an eccentric billionaire in Mexico to wreak havoc with a space-based weapon. Sounds about par for the course.
Trejo is in talks to return although it’s impossible to see him not jumping aboard given his part working relationship with Rodriguez. Till April then…
