The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan has another DC Comics movie in the works and we got our first glimpse of it over the weekend. Yes folks, this is our very own Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel. But there are TWO trailers, and not one to enjoy here. The first has a voice-over from Kevin Costener, who plays Superman’s adoptive father, Jonathan Kent and the second features Russell Crowe, as his Kryptonian father, Jor-El Nolan, The messages are very different.
Nolan is only on production duty here, with Zack Snyder, the bloke responsible for Watchmen and 300 stepping behind the camera. As you can see, it’s very much an origins story, but we get a glimpse of Clark Kent going supersonic at the end. The modesty of the trailer is clearly designed to undercut fan expectation while also not giving many details a year before it debuts, but it’s clear that with the Batman series finished, Warner Brothers think they’ve found a new franchise.
Man of Steel will be hitting cinemas in summer of 2013.
