Popular BBC drama series Merlin has been commissioned for a fouth series by the BBC. The fantasy show – which was inspired by Smallville – is based upon a youthful version of the legendary wizard and his friend Arthur.
The third series is currently attracting upwards of six milliion viewers every Saturday evening and is due to finish in a climactic episode on 4th December.
“I’m pleased to confirm that the magical world of Camelot will be returning next year for a fourth series of this fresh and modern retelling of a classic British legend,” said Ben Stephenson, the Beeb’s controller for drama commissioning according to What’s On TV.
The new ten-part series will start filming in March.
