Seriously. Did Hollywood suffer some kind of vampire infestation in the last year or so? The reliably excellent Michael Fassbender is the next star to offer his throat to the vampy menace in Jim Jarmusch’s next film.
And Fass isn’t the only one with a thirst for blood. Indie queen Tilda Swinton, currently causing quite a stir in Cannes following the celebrated screening of We Need To Talk About Kevin, Mia Wasikowska and John Hurt are all hopping on board too.
Jarmusch is describing it as a “crypto-vampire love story”, set against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangiers. Yup, so we’re none the wiser about what it’s actually about. He went on to tell Screen Daily, “I’ve been imagining this film for years. I can’t wait to now realise it with these remarkable collaborators.”
It’s due to be shot in Germany, Morocco and Detroit in early 2012, so it sounds like a big project. Plenty of time to stock up on holy water and garlic before the vampire uprising claims us all then.
