Midsomer Murders Creator Suspended For Racist Comments

Midsomer Murders creator Brian True-May has found himself suspended after making the claim that the reason behind the show’s success is because of its lack of multiculturalism.

Describing the popular crime-drama as the “last bastion of Englishnessâ€?, he stated there was “no placeâ€? for non-white characters in the narratives of his TV show.

He continued his controversial ramblings when speaking to the Radio Times magazine: “We are a cosmopolitan society in this country, but if you watch ‘Midsomer’ you wouldn’t think so. I’ve never been picked up on that, but quite honestly I wouldn’t want to change it.â€?

“We just don’t have ethnic minorities involved. Because it wouldn’t be the English village with them.â€?

ITV bosses, whose channel has been the programme’s home for years, have described their reactions as “shocked and appalled at these personal comments by Brian True-May which are absolutely not shared by anyone at ITV.â€?

As they attempted to distance themselves from the producer, True-May was then suspended by programme makers All3Media.

Nothing like a spot of casual racism to get you kicked out of the work place now is there?
