After her triple-win last year, Miranda Hart has picked up four nominations for the 2011 British Comedy Awards. She could be in line to repeat last year’s success after being nominated for best female TV comic, TV comedy actress and the People’s Choice award. Her show Miranda is also up for best sitcom.
Whether she wins or not she is undoubtedly in for… what I call… a cracking night!
Other leaders of the comedy pack include channel 4’s Friday Night Dinner, who is also up for Best Sitcom. Its stars Tamsin Greig and Tom Rosenthal received recognition in the Best Actress and Best Breakthrough Artist categories.
It seems like Miranda might have the best chance out of the list of nominees for the award for the King or Queen of comedy, as voted for by the public. David Mitchell, Graham Norton, Jack Whitehall, Jo Brand and Sarah Millican are also nominated. Despite Norton doing well with ratings, it is expected that family favourite Miranda will prove difficult to beat, after becoming a juggernaut in the popularity stakes these days.
To air this Friday, the British Comedy Awards will as usual be hosted by Jonathan Ross.
