The intrigue surrounding who will replace Alesha Dixon on the Strictly panel has been notched up a gear. News has emerged this morning that Miranda Hart could be in the running.
The creator and star of the BBC1 comedy hit, Miranda, Hart is apparently being considered because of her âwitâ?, an insider has said.
The BBC source added: “The producers want someone really startling.
“Miranda is seen as a brilliant left-field choice. She totally loves the show and is incredibly popular with the viewing public.
“We think she could bring something completely different to the panel because of her wit.”
Alesha Dixon announced her surprise departure from the show to join Britain’s Got Talent earlier this week and rumours have been rife about who the next female panelist will be. Former judge Arlene Philips, former winner Kara Tointon and ballerina Darcey Bussell have all been tipped as potential successors.
The 39-year-old comedienne may be funny but her dire dancing ability has already been showcased in the Comic Relief spoof of Pineapple Dance Studios; She could be a controversial choice for serious dance fans.
With the next series not due to air until Autumn 2012, one suspects we will have some time to wait before we will find out who will join Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood on the panel.
