More Django Unchained Castings

Quentin Tarantino has been keeping something of a low profile recently, apparently emerging only to endorse other films (he’s got bills to pay).

But rumours about the upcoming release of his western, Django Unchained are beginning to get the film world a lil’ bit excited

Kevin Costner has now announced his retreat from the role of Ace Woody, evil plantation overlord, leaving the way open for another movie titan to step in.

Kurt Russell is the rumoured replacement, and with such a dynamite cast already in place, the Deathproof star should make a formidable addition.

The homage to spaghetti westerns already promises to deliver some pretty big names including Leonardo Di Caprio as a villainous plantation farmer, Samuel L. Jackson as “head slave” and Laura Cayoutte (Rocket in Kill Bill 2) as Dicaprio’s widowed sister.

Not finished yet…Jamie Fox as a freed slave who becomes a bounty hunter under the tutelage of Christoph Waltz. Gerald McRaney and Dennis Christopher are also appearing, and shooting starts in November, for a release at the end of 2012.

Costner supposedly had to bow out because of Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, Man Of Steel. Wise decision? Only time will tell.
