Morse Prequel ‘Endeavour’ To Return For Series

Following a one-off special of Morse: Origins or Endeavour as ITV liked to call it, thousands of fans called for the show to get a full series as soon as possible.

Thankfully, those calls have been answered and this morning ITV confirmed that Shaun Evans will be returning for four two-hour episodes later this year.

Roger Allam will also be returning as senior partner Inspector Fred Thursday and James Bradshaw will be coming back as Dr Max Debryn, while John Thaw’s daughter will make further guest appearances. ITV have been keen to make more ever since the first show attracted 8.2 million viewers at the start of the year.

“It was fantastic that the audience responded so warmly to Endeavour,â€? said Sally Haynes of ITV drama commissioning. “Shaun’s portrayal of a legendary character was captivating and Endeavour thoroughly deserves a series – there’s so much more we can do with the character.”

While co-executive producer Damien Timmer said: “We’re delighted to be making a series of Endeavour and have been overwhelmed by the reaction to the first film. Russell Lewis has some bold plans to further enrich the mythology of Morse, introducing some significant new characters, and re-establishing some old favourites, all of whom are destined to have a massive impact on the future inspector’s life.â€?
