You might think that Will Ferrell would currently be in hiding, attempting to shield himself from the tidal wave of Anchorman adoration which resurfaced thanks to the news that Anchorman 2 is in development.
Oh contraire film fans. Ferrell is hard at work on sporty comedy, 3 Mississippi, a film which has now bagged writing/directing team Sean Anders and John Morris.
The film will see Other Guys duo Ferrell and Mar Wahlberg reunited as the heads of two feuding families. Thanksgiving is the day of choice for annual battle to commence. Empire reports that the idea was originally pitched by Owen Burke of Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions.
Rumour has it that Alec Baldwin is being lined up for the role of Wahlberg’s father. Nothing has been confirmed yet but if this is the shape of casting to come, we like the sound of it already.
If a deal goes through with Anders and Morris, Warner Bros. would like to see the dinner table battles (presumably involving turkey legs and overcooked veg) set in action by September. The directing duo previously worked on such comedies as Hot Tub Time Machine, teen-silly She’s Out Of My League and Sex Drive.
