“Not Everyone Get’s Out Alive” Moffat On Rory & Amy’s Dr Who Exit

We’ve known that Rory and Amy’s departure from Doctor Who would be ‘heart-breaking’ for some time, but today show boss Steven Moffat confirmed that at least one of them will be heading to the great TARDIS in the sky in the fifth episode of the new series.

“Not everyone gets out alive,” the head writer said at a press conference announcing Jenna-Louise Coleman as Gillan’s replacement this morning. “And I mean it this time!”

The episode in question will see Matt Smith & Co coming up against the fearsome weeping angels and a BBC spokesperson confirmed that Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill – who play the on-screen pair – would “bow out of the show in a heartbreaking departure after one final series of rollercoaster voyages.”

The new series will be arriving this autumn, the sixth episode being the Christmas Special in which Jenna-Louise Colman will be making her debut. There will be eight more episodes in 2013.
