ITV1’s Dancing On Ice is getting in the Olympic spirit with four gold medallists set to get their skates on.
Series judge Robin Cousins, experts Torvill and Dean and German gold medal winner, Katarina Witt, will all be gliding around the rink in the name of the games as part of an Olympics special.
Katarina represented East Germany and won ladies’ singles gold in 1984 – the same year Torvil and Dean won with their legendary Bolero performance.
Cousins bagged a gold in 1980 in the men’s singles.
Despite being rivals back in ’84, Torvill, Dean and Katarina will be skating side by side in a show of flesh-coloured, tights-clad unity.
A show source said: “It sounds like a no-brainer, getting all four to dance, but it wasn’t easy. Jayne and Chris are billed as the show legends so asking their rival Olympic medallist to perform on the same bill was tricky.
“Luckily they have agreed, so we’ve got a belter of a show lined up. Jayne and Chris are spearheading the routine that is likely to see them all dance together.
“It will be great for Katarina to skate as she hasn’t really been on the ice since 2008. Robin is also nervous as he hasn’t been on the ice for years either.”
Here is their winning performance back in 1984. WARNING: Clip contains bouffant hair and American tan tights.
