The Olympic Park in Stratford is to recieve the postcode E20, a code already in use by the fictional Borough of Walford, as portrayed in BBC soap Eastenders.
The famous Albert Square and Queen Vic pub are in the E20 district, a code they’ll soon share with the Olympic Park in Stratford. More than 100 new postcodes will be created by the massive development, which will see over 8,000 homes built in the next 20 years, as well as the huge stadium, athlete’s village and monolithic Westfield Shopping Centre.
What does this mean for the residents of Walford? Phil Mitchell could take up the shotput perhaps, or Dean Gaffney could return as a prize marathon runner. OTB for one can definately see Peggy, Bianca and Pat taking the volleyball world by storm.
Seb Coe and Boris Johnson might even pop into the Vic for a crafty pint during the games.
