‘On The Buses’ Creator Passes Away After Fall

Ronnie Wolfe, the man who wrote popular sitcom On The Buses, has died at the age of 89, three days after falling at his care home in London.

He co-created the comedy with Ronnie Chesney, who paid tribute today by describing Wolfe’s death as “like losing my brother” in The Sun today.

Fans of the show which debuted in 1969 and ran for seven series might remember it for Inspector Blakey’s catchphrase of “I’ll get you Butler!”

Wolfe and Chesney were dubbed “the other two Ronnies” during their heyday and wrote a string of other sitcoms including The Rag Trade, Meet The Wife, Don’t Drink The Water and Yus, My Dear.

His wife of 58 years, Rose, called his death an “unexpectedly sad end for a guy so funny in life”.
