The six part series, Masterclass, will air over on Sky Arts and will see the 76-year-old focus on the life of one celebrated artist each week.
Somewhat inexplicably, Sky has also revealed that the programme will also feature musical performances and dramatic recitals.
Michael Parkinson said: “I’m delighted to be working with Sky Arts on the Masterclass series and look forward to being part of the exciting times ahead for this innovative and important channel.”
Sky Arts director James Hunt said: “He is one of our country’s finest broadcasters, having interviewed everyone in the entertainment industry worth knowing, from Bing Crosby to Bette Davis, Rod Hull to Madonna.
“This new interview series will allow Sir Michael to get closer than ever before to his subject, extracting the essence of their character in a way that only he can.”
Parkinson’s iconic chat show ran from 1971 to 1982, being revived once again in 1998 for a further casual 9 year run.
Having interviewed over 2,000 ‘slebs throughout his incredible chin-wagging career from Muhammed Ali to Meg Ryan (lol).
In case you missed it the first awkward time around, here it is again in all its knuckle-biting glory:
