Around 230 million Americans cast votes for the annual People’s Choice Awards show hosted last night in Los Angeles.
It is estimated (by us) that around 220 million of them were Gleeks. Lea Michele, who plays Rachel in the hit musical TV series, Glee, scooped the award for Best Comedy Actress leaving fellow nominee Tina Fey empty handed.
The awards show also honoured Pretty Little Liars as the Best Cable Drama and American Idol as the Best Competition Show on the box.
Other TV award winners included:
Ellen DeGeneres – awarded Best Daytime TV Host, with good reason. As of last year, the show has won 32 Emmy awards and has a huge following across the globe. Average audience figures rest at a bout 2.74 million per show, making it one of the most popular daytime on air at the moment.
Kim Kardashian – as well as a failed “marriage” and several million dollars in the bank, Kim nabbed herself the award for Best Reality TV star at the awards ceremony last night. We wonder if the other Kardashians are jealous…?
Neil Patrick Harris – this charismatic chap earned an award as Best Comedy Actor for his work on How I Met Your Mother. But we are guessing that the Glee fans may have had something to do with this win as well…
Katy Perry – another win for How I Met Your Mother and a much-needed high point for soon to be divorced Katy. The California Girls singer won the award for Best TV Guest Star, beating off stiff competition from Jim Carrey in The Office and Gwyneth Paltrow for her appearance in Glee.
