In a story which sounds like bollocks of the highest order he apparently said, “Diana and I had been talking about doing Bodyguard 2. I told her I would take care of her just the same way that I took care of Whitney.”
The Bodyguard depicted a relationship between a singer (Houston) and the bodyguard assigned to protect her. It was a hit in 1992 but is probably more famous for spawning the hit song by Houston I Will Always Love You.
Apparently a follow up was planned which would see Costner protecting a Princess in the spotlight and that he received a draft for the script for the film the day Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997.
Costner said: “She wanted me to write it for her. I said ‘I’ll tailor it for you if you’re interested.’ She goes, ’I am interested.’”
It could be true I suppose… but I think there’s more chance that pigs might fly out of a frozen hell… The real challenge here is to determine which is more likely, that Costner’s talking rubbish or that The Sun have made it up.
