Psycho Prequel TV Series In The Pipeline

It’s official! Prequels are the new sequels.

The crazy producers at the A&E network are preparing to open the doors of the Bates Motel once more in the hope that they will be able to give us a glimpse into the early years of one of film’s most notorious psychopaths: Norman Bates.

The TV series, Bates Motel, will air on the A&E network and will give viewers an “intimate understanding of how Bates’ psyche developed from this childhood through his teens.â€? *shudders*

In a statement released by the network, they said, “Fans will have access to the dark, twisted back story and learn first-hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.”

Alfred Hitchcock’s black and white classic, Psycho , was originally released in 1960 with Anthony Perkins in the lead role. The film spawned three sequels but there was widespread criticism for a remake made 1998 with Vince Vaughn taking on the role of Bates. With any luck they will cast someone with a little more care for the upcoming series.

No names have yet been associated with the project but it is expected to begin disturbing audiences later this year.
