Queen Latifah To Get Her Own Chat Show

The Queen of the US is shortly to receive a brand new accolade as daytime host. We are, of course, talking about Queen Latifah: actress, rapstar and wannebe Oprah.

The show, which is due to launch in Autumn 2013 (now that’s forward planning!) is still untitled and will be produced by Latifah’s production company Flavor Unit alongside Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s company Overbrook Entertainment.

The rapper-turned-actress tried her hand at talk show hosting with her own self-titled show The Queen Latifah Show in 1999, but it only lasted two seasons. With plenty of time before it hits screens and the Fresh Prince on side, Queeny will surely be hoping for more success in a year which could be unlucky for some.

Born Dana Elaine Owens, the 41-year-old who started her career in music has also found mainstream success in movies and television and was nominated for an Academy Award nomination for Best actress in a supporting role for her role in the musical Chicago.

Her Royal Highness is currently producing a popular TV-series, Single Ladies, which chronicles the lives of three friends and their relationships. All hail the Queen of reinvention.
