Chart-topping rapper Plan B – AKA Ben Drew – has signed up to play opposite Ray Winstone in the new movie adaptation of cop show The Sweeney.
After winning a Brit award in February for his album The Defamation of Strickland Banks, multi-talented Plan B will play George Carter, originally portrayed by Dennis Waterman in the 1970s show.
He said: “It’s a dream come true for me to be in a film with Ray Winstone, who is one of my favourite British actors of all time.”
Directed by Nick Love, and set in the present day, The Sweeney will start filming in the autumn.
