The comedian has helpfully provided some suggestions to Oscar presenters James Franco and Anne Hathaway, should they wish to take revenge on behalf of anyone that was offended by Globes-gate.
Gervais wrote on his blog: “Good luck to James Franco and Anne Hathaway at the Oscars on Sunday.
“I know how nervous they must be right now. They will do an absolutely fantastic job and don’t need my help, but I’ve written a little opening in case they have a few minutes to fill.”
Gervais’ alternative script calls for Hathaway to say to the audience: “No comedians tonight. And do you know why? Because comics are ugly.”
Franco would then retort: “Especially that rude obnoxious one who played the Steve Carell part in the English remake of The Office.”
However, despite his best efforts to win over critics, Gervais just couldn’t resist a cancer joke, writing that Hathaway would assure the audience he is not present at the awards due to charity commitments for “orphans with cancer”, adding: “He’s telling them what bald little losers they are.”
Oh dear Ricky, it was all going so well…
