Ridley and Tom Scott are to collaborate with Fuji TV to create a crowd-sourced documentary called Japan In A Day, beginning on March 11 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami.
The project, which begins at midnight on March 11 with Japanese participants uploading video footage of the following 24 hours to a YouTube channel, will see Fuji donating 200 video cameras to residents of the worst-hit areas of the country. All profits will be donated to the victims.
This follows the success of Scott’s Life In A Day project, directed by Kevin Macdonald, that debuted at Sundance last year, a full-length film featuring scenes from 4,500 hours of footage from submissions around the world. Scott will again be executive producing the new project.
