Mickey Rourke has admitted that the reason Passion Play has received so many bad reviews is that “it’s not very good.”
Speaking to New York Magazine, the actor said: “Terrible. Another terrible movie. But, you know, in your career and all the movies you make, you’re going to make dozens of terrible ones.”
Since these comments, Rourke has apologised to co-star Megan Fox via New York Magazine, saying: “When I talked to you, I was at a party. It was loud and crowded, I was in a shitty mood and I was trying to get rid of your reporter… Mitch [director Mitch Glazer] is one of my best friends since we were kids. I loved working with him and would do it again tomorrow. I don’t know why I said that stupid shit. I love Mitch, I love Megan. My bad.”
Passion Play is only available on limited cinema release in the US from May 2011, so chances are you’ll have to wait for the DVD to see it for yourself. Or not. Probably not if Rourke’s original comments are anything to go by.
