Scarlett Johansson For The Making Of Psycho

It’s been in the works for bloody ages but Sacha Gervasi’s Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho now has two stars locked in for the leads – Scarlett Johansson for Janet Leigh and James D’Arcy for Anthony Perkins.

It’ll chart the difficulty that Hitch had to get the film off the ground at a time when the genre was frowned upong – something which eventually led him to fund the film himself.

The script is by John McLaughlin, Tom Thayer and Stephen Rebello who also wrote the book that the film’s bacsed on. Anthony Hopkins is already down to play Hitchcock and Helen Mirren is also confirmed as his wife, Alma Reville.

Variety has it that it might take a similar tack to My Week With Marilyn with “sources” telling them that Johannson’s role should draw a similar Oscar buzz to Michelle Williams’ performance. Lesson learned everyone – if you want awards recognition, play a real person.

Johannson will next be seen swanning about in tight leather and kicking people in the head in The Avengers; D’Arcy’s got a role in the adaptation of David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas.
