Time-travelling cyborg-turned US Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was given his marching orders last week by wife Maria Shriver after she learnt of his infidelity ten years ago and it has now emerged that this relationship produced an illegitimate child.
After retiring from the governor’s office Schwarzenegger informed his wife of the relationship with an unnamed woman who was a member of his household staff for twenty years and who had told the family that her then-husband was the father. Upon hearing this news Shriver then ended her relationship with the one-time T-800 after twenty years of marriage with further revelations revealing the secret child a product of his indiscretion.
“I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family,” Schwarzenegger has said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times, “There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused.
“I ask that the media respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time. While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not.”
Schwarzenegger was last seen on the big screen when he picked up a cheque for walking into and then out of a church in geriatric action flick The Expendables, directed by fellow Eighties star Sylvester Stallone.
He is next to be seen, in animated form, in next year’s cartoon series The Governator, which features the former body builder and Mr Universe as a superhero, crime fighting version of himself, complete with James Cameron-approved leather jacket and shades. How this latest revelation will affect his much-mooted yet unconfirmed cine-return remains to be soon.
