Martin Scorsese is set to direct an Elizabeth Taylor biopic based on the book Furious Love by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger. The story follows Taylor’s on-again off-again romance with fellow thespian Richard Burton.
Paramount Pictures has already been granted access to Burton’s estate and library by his widow, and is hoping to gain the same level of access with Taylor’s estate. Numerous love-letters were sent between the couple over the course of their romance, which would give the as yet un-hired screenwriter a lot to go on.
Scorsese has always had an interest in Hollywood history and has spent some time trying to get his idea for a Dean Martin biopic off the ground, so it’s no wonder he jumped at the chance to immerse himself in more Hollywood lore.
Rumours are rife about who could play the iconic couple, with this generation’s equivalent, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt high up the running.
