SiCo Wants A Talent Show “Super Final”

Shortly after suggesting that he would like to blast the next Britain’s Got Talent winner into outer space, Simon Cowell has come up with a slightly more realistic idea for a U.S. finale.

Speaking on Twitter, the talent show tyrant said that he would like to see the winners of rival shows The X Factor USA, American Idol and The Voice go head-to-head in a “super finalâ€?.

Teasing The X Factor‘s upcoming second season, he wrote: “We have a few surprises to announce soon. This is getting interesting… Maybe the winner of @TheXFactorUSA this year should compete with winner of The Voice & Idol in a super final. Just a thought. I’d be up for it.”

American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe then promptly produced his handbag, mocking Cowell’s idea shamelessly: “@simoncowell suggests the IDOL winner should take on the Voice and X-Factor winners. The problem is the Idol winner will be a star by then.”

Whether there will be any judges left to crown an X-Factor USA winner, is quite another issue. The recent SyCo bloodbath saw Paula Abdule, Nicole Scherzinger and host, Steve Jones, brutally axed from their roles.

Janet Jackson, no less, has become the latest star tipped to join the judging panel.

Season 11 of American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays on Fox in the US and follows on ITV2 in the UK.

The Voice season two airs Mondays at 8/7c on NBC in the US and will launch its own UK version in the Spring.
