After bloody ages in development, the Sin City sequel is finally stretching its wings and taking to the skies with Robert Rodriguez at the helm. The information comes from the horse’s mouth of Dimension Films who have it that tts official title will be Sin City: A Dame To Kill.
“The first question I’m always asked is ‘When will you make another Sin City?'” says Rodriguez “I’ve wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but we have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait!”
Frank Miller echoes the director’s sentiments “The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything lke it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.”
The script’s been written by Miller in collaboration with The Departed’s William Monahan and while the press release doesn’t illuminate anything in the way of a plot, past stories have suggested that there’ll be three separate vignettes and a round-up as before. Tatalizingly, there’ll be two new section written exclusively for the screen and not based on any pre-existing comics.
With A Dame To Kill featuring Marv, that probably means that Mickey Rourke will be back in on the action with the Dimension press release also stating that “many of the original cast are expected to return”.
Casting begins next week. Shooting begins this summer.
