Sony Pictures has confirmed that it has started working on a sequel to the 2010 action thriller Salt. Angelina Jolie will be returning to play Evelyn Salt, the CIA officer who is accused by a defector of being a Russian spy. Kurt Wimme, writer of The Recruit, is return to pen the new script.
Jolie announced that she was keen to make a sequel and after a memorable performance in the first movie there are high hopes for the sequel. Yet it will go ahead without director Philip Noyce, who opted to make Bloodsport with Jean Claude Van-Dammne.
Jolie, who has always wanted to play the legendary spy James Bond now gets to take the role in this female form. Albeit without the gadgets. Salt grossed $36 million (£22 million) on its opening weekend last year.
