Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creative geniuses that have brought us South Park and Team America: World Police, have confirmed that they plan to bring their Broadway hit The Book of Mormon to the silver screen. As Trey told EW.com, “hopefully it will have a big run and a big tour and then we can do the movie in several years.”
The musical is about two Mormon missionaries in Uganda and isn’t afraid to poke fun. Despite the bit of controversy surrounding the subject matter, the comedy has won multiple Tony awards.
The two-headed monster that is Matt and Trey are currently finishing up this season of South Park. They have plenty of Hollywood experience between them and the Book of Mormon adaptation will likely feature the pair as directors and producers.
