Special Pat Tribute Will Follow Funeral Episode

Bye bye Pat *sob sob*
Viewers tuning into BBC One at 8pm tonight will hear the funeral bell tolling for Eastenders stalwart, Pat (Pam St. Clement), as she makes her final journey around Albert Square – in a coffin.

The emotional funeral episode will run for the entire 40 minutes of the programme, which will be followed by a special tribute to the character/actress who has appeared on the soap for 25 years.

Fans of the show are therefore being urged to stay tuned in until the closing credits roll to see the tribute.

An EastEnders insider commented: “Pat is EastEnders – she was the heart and soul of the show and bosses have pulled out all the stops for her funeral. Not only is the episode extra long, with plenty of nods to the iconic lady, it really is the end of the earring.

“We are hoping that everyone dons their biggest and tackiest earrings to mark one of the saddest days in the history of Walford.”

Earlier this month fellow Eastenders legend, Barbara Windsor, revealed that friend Pam had not “wanted to be killed offâ€?.

The former Queen Vic landlady said: “I know she wanted to leave but I don’t know if she wanted to be killed off, but that’s the chance you have to take.

“I was very, very surprised because she could always go back, but she’s accepted it now.â€?

And as for the lady with the dangly earrings, she is now looking to the future. Pam, who contributes to a number of wildlife charities, has already expressed an interest in getting involved with making wildlife documentaries.

Personally, we would love to see a new programme entitled Pat and Att – which chronicles Pat and David’s adventures in some far-flung jungle destination. BBC bosses…we’re talking to you.

EastEnders airs Pat’s funeral tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
