Spielberg’s Terra Nova Picked Up By Sky1

With Steven Spielberg’s first ‘End of the World’ TV series just a few days away (in Falling Skies we will be battling aliens rather than dinosaurs..) us sci-fi bods have another thing to celebrate today with the news that Sky1 have splashed out on his other lavish series Terra Nova.

What’s more the broadcaster has announced that we will be receiving the first episodes just a month after our American cousins see them. They are due to hit our screens at some point this autumn.

The series focuses on a family who attempt to save the human race from extinction by travelling back to prehistoric times. Spielberg is part of a team of executive producers and the show will also star Jason O’Mara, who appeared in the US remake of Life on Mars as father of three Jim Shannon, Marchlands actress Shelley Conn plays his wife Elisabeth and Stephen Lang (Avatar baddie) will also star as colony leader Commander Nathaniel Taylor.

Stuart Murphy, director of Sky 1 HD, said: “Terra Nova is a huge weekly epic adventure with a family at the centre of the action, a community full of tensions and rivalries and some pretty scary dinosaurs. It’s cinematic, powerful and a whole lot of fun that’ll be even more fantastic in HD.”
