By now, pretty much all of Stephen King’s good stories have been taken. However, this hasn’t stopped Palomar Pictures from picking up the rights to one of his lesser-known (and most peculiar) stories, Rose Madder.
From the man who penned classics like The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Shining and many, many others, comes the story of a woman who discovers a magic painting while on the run from her abusive husband.
She is able to step into the world of the painting, where she finds the title character and journeys through a labyrinth to do battle with a minotaur. A cover image from one of the novel’s publishing runs can be seen on the left here.
The difficult job of adapting this unusual story for the big screen has fallen upon Naomi Sheridan, who previously worked on the film In America.
