Now that Steve Carell’s finished filming the US version of The Office, he can go back to thinking about the long list of films in development. But it seems that he’s due to go down a previously unknown route with Seeking A Friend For The End Of the World.
Deadline reports that Keira Knightley is also very close to signing on the dotted line which will see humanity facing up to the fact that it’s about to be obliterated by an incoming asteroid.
Carell will be playing a man whose wife suddenly leaves him, only for him to be consoled by a former girlfriend who asks if he’ll spend time with her as the end draws nigh. But things are made more complicated by his neighbour (Knightley) who tags along for the ride as they end up falling for each other.
In fact, the end of the world is the only scenario in which we can see Carell and Knightley as a possible couple. All you geeks out there better start praying for a direct asteroid strike right now…
It’s written by Lorene Scafaria who wrote Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and she’ll be making this her directorial debut.
