Rumours are abounding that after the end of this series, Steve Jones will be axed as the host of X Factor USA. A spokesperson for the show said: “No discussions have been had and no decisions will be made about any new contracts until the New Year.”
However, Jones has received terrible reviews over in the states, and in particular has come in for criticism relating to his treatment of 13 year-old Rachel Crow. The presenter failed to comfort the youngster as she was eliminated from proceedings, leaving Simon Cowell to come up on stage and console the hysterical girl.
Jones commented on the tricky situations he sometimes finds himself in, saying: “I’m wearing an earpiece and there’s about five people screaming, ‘Shut Paula up. Shut her up now. Move on. I feel terrible because I feel on occasions I’m coming across as rude and abrupt and that’s really not me. I cherish every word that comes out of Paula.”
It has been suggested that Cowell might already have a master plan in mind, possibly replacing Jones with former Pussycat Doll and current judge, Nicole Scherzinger.
