Super Bowl Draws Highest Ever TV Audience

It would appear that the Super Bowl is very much the television event of the year after recent statistics have revealed that the Green Bay Packers defeat of the Pittsburgh Steelers (31-25) was viewed by an average of 111 million people on the FOX Network on Sunday.

With the Black Eyed Peas performance during half-time and the much talked about American X Factor advert of Simon Cowell also screening amid the American football hubbub, it was a night of entertainment from all angles.

However, the most viewed half-time performance remains (and rightly so) as Michael Jackson’s performance in 1993 despite the Black eyed Peas best efforts.

The 45th Super Bowl, like the year before, has broken viewing records, with the third place being now taken up by the 1983 finale of MASH.

Advertisers paid a record $3m for a 30-second spot in this year’s Super Bowl with revenue from commercials expected to top $210m.
