Sutherland Sees 24 Movie For 2012

Bauer300Speaking on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Kiefer Sutherland has said that a 24 film could be released as soon as summertime next year.

If it were to be ready for then “we’d have to start shooting in January”, he said. “We’re moving everything towards accomplishing those dates.”

He also confirmed that the movie would be a “two-hour representation of a 24-hour day.” Which, whilst hardly a revelation, means that the movie will have to be much more selective than the series about what gets in and what doesn’t.

“What is really helpful for us, certainly from the writing point [of view], is that it won’t be in real time,” he added. “[Jack could] get on a plane to go somewhere. All of those things are possible now which were not possible in the show.”

Presumably this will also mean fewer shots of Jack Bauer driving around, and other filler sections, but will raise questions about whether or not the film will feel like it’s related to the series. One thing’s for sure: Bauer wouldn’t start filming in January, he’d wait until the night before release and then get going. After all, he only needs 24 hours.
