Tales From The Crypt Set For Comeback

HBO’s hit horror series Tales From The Crypt enjoyed a seven-year success before leaving our screens in 1996, however, series producer, Gil Adler has recently started work on a new version of the show alongside Eurika co-creator, Andrew Cosby.

In an interview with Deadline, Cosby said “It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context… it’s all about continually elevating the genre, for both existing fans of the source material and mainstream audiences.â€?

The new series is said to be an entirely new project and will be unrelated to the ‘80s original. HBO’s sister channel Cinemax is already believed to be interested in the show, which is being pitched to networks in the near future.

The original programme used the same anthology format as the ‘50s comic book it was based on and, at the time, was considered highly controversial due to its graphic violence, gore, nudity and sexual content. The intro for the original can be seen below:
