After a decade of hoovering up the best work of others (Lost, Friends, Mad Men..) Sky seem to have finally realised that television production is the future. Trollied, a supermarket sitcom starring Mark Addy and Jane Horrocks will be debuting on Sky and broadcaster has this week released more details of another of its new comedies This Is Jinsy.
David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Jennifer Saunders have signed up for cameo appearances in Sky Atlantic’s new comedy. hey will be joined by Harry Hill, Jane Horrocks, Simon Callow, Kevin Eldon, Peter Serafinowicz and Brian Murphy, who have also signed up to appear in the series which will air in September.
The eight-part series stars newcomers Chris Bran and Justin Chubb as Arbiter Maven and Operative Sporall, who watch over the residents of the fictional island of Jinsy.
Tennant will play a corrupt wedding planner called Mr Slightlyman in the first episode, while Hill will appear as Joon Boolay, who delivers punishments from a television studio.
Elsewhere, Saunders will play the Voice of Miss Reason in every episode, Tate will appear as the editor of Glove Hygiene Monthly, Roopina Crale. Horrocks will star as the head teacher of a playgroup, Callow will be Maven’s former teacher, Eldon will star as an eco-warrior, Murphy will be a posh but slightly drunk cartographer and Serafinowicz will take on the role of salesman Eric Bunt.
