First Shooting Stars and now The Fast Show, it seems some of the best comedy from the 90s is making a comeback, with âCompetitive Dadâ? Simon Day announcing on Daybreak this morning that the seriesâ creators have had meetings about the BBC2 comedy’s possible return. âI can’t divulge too much at the moment but certain members of The Fast Show have been convened together in a room in utmost security. No telephones anywhere, and you know, there’s a possibility of something happening,â? he said.
The Fast Show was one of the most popular comedies of its time, spanning three series and spawning two national tours. The show relied on recurring sketches and offbeat characters, some of the more memorable of which were:
Unlucky Alf, as you may have guessed, Alf was extremely unlucky, a doddery old northern man with the catchphrase âOh Bugger!â? which he would often recite as his life was befallen by tragedies great and small.
Competitive Dad, a terrible father figure who was always berating his children and challenging them to competitions they had no chance of winning.
Iâm not pissed, a degenerate family who were always inebriated, yet constantly insisted otherwise while staggering their way through life.
