The Punisher To Get A TV Series?

Skull t-shirts at the ready. The Punisher and his justice-seeking escapades in New York will soon be coming to a television near you.

Writer Ed Bernero (Criminal Minds) is developing a TV version of the Marvel Comic character for Fox TV.

There have already been three movies based on the cop-come-night-time-vigilante, Frank Castle which were based on the seventies comic character. So far the movies have stuck to the original concept that the massacre of Castle’s family by criminals set him on his destructive path.

But early reports about the new TV series suggest that Castle will just be “seeking justice for those the system has failedâ€?. Bernero will executive produce along with Marvel, and it will be made by ABC Studios.

Marvel is also busy developing two other TV series with ABC Studios. We are particularly looking forward to seeing how Hulk with Guillermo del Toro works out.

The Punisher first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #129 in 1974, and was created by writer Gerry Conway and artist John Romita.
