The Shape of Water leads Oscar nominations

The Shape of Water

Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water has picked up 13 nominations for the 90th Academy Awards.

The film is the joint second most nominated film in Oscar history, but failed to be nominated in “Visual Effects”, so is behind the 14 nominations for All About Eve, Titantic and La La Land. It is however up for awards in among other categories “Best Picture”, “Directing”, and “Original screenplay”. Sally Hawkins is nominated for “Best Actress”, while Richard Jenkins is up for “Best Supporting Actor” and Octavia Spencer “Best Supporting Actress”.

After The Shape of Water the films with the most nominations were Dunkirk (8), Darkest Hour (6), Phantom Thread (6), Blade Runner 2049 (5), Lady Bird (5), Call Me by Your Name (4), Get Out (4), Mudbound (4) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (4).
