By fair means or foul, The Voice seems to be winning the ratings battle with its ITV counterpart Britain’s Got Talent.
But it also became the most watched programme in the short history of the BBC iPlayer over the weekend.
Saturday night’s opening battle round attracted 800,000 fewer audience members than the final blind audition the week before, yet it clocked up a staggering 764,000 views on the Beeb’s catch-up service in the 24 hour period since it aired.
This figure broke the previous record held by the first episode of Steven Moffat’s second series of Sherlock ‘A Scandal In Belgravia’ which was requested 623,000 times on January 2 2012.
