The Voice is about to kick into battle mode – with blind auditions drawing to a close in just two weeks!
During the brutally named âBattle Roundsâ?, each coach will pit two of their own acts against each other in a bloodthirsty fight for vocal survival.
The remaining three judges will be tasked with the job of deciding who to put through.
Of the forty contestants that will have been selected â ten for each coach â only twenty will live to belt another ballad and get the chance to perform on the live shows. Host Reggie Yates said: âThis is a pivotal moment in the series, the gateway to our live shows and a massive event.
âForty Artists, twenty going home â itâs a really, really exciting point to get down to our top twenty.â?
The much-hyped âblindâ? rounds involved the four high profile music bods â Tom Jones, Jessie J, Will.i.am and Danny OâDonoghue â judging contestants purely on the quality of their voices; swiveling their red chairs in approval.
The battle rounds will see so-called âBattle Advisorsâ? joining our coaches for moral and practical support with the mentoring process. Paloma Faith will be joining Team Danny while Welsh beauty Cerys Matthews will join Tom Jones. The Scissor Sistersâ Ana Matronic will become the newest member of Team Jessie and Black Eyed Pea Dante Santiago will take the side of will.i.am.
These unbeatable combinations of vocal prowess and industry knowledge will be responsible for polishing the fledgling artists until they shine, and preparing them for battle.
The boobed Ant to Reggie’s Dec, Holly Willoughby, adds: “The Battle Rounds are make or break time for all the artists in the competition. They have to compete with their opponents singing the same song, before their coach decides which one to send home â in some cases itâs an almost impossible decision. The drama is going to be extremely high.â?
The Voice continues this Saturday at 7pm on BBC One, with the Battle Rounds commencing on Saturday April 21st – Sunday April 22nd.
