Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won five BAFTAs at this years ceremony.

The movie won the awards for “Best Film”, “Outstanding British Film”, “Leading Actress” (for Frances McDormand), “Supporting Actor” (for Sam Rockwell) and “Original Screenplay”.

The Shape of Water, which had the most nominations, won just three awards, with Guillermo Del Toro winning “Best Director”, and the sci-fi movie also winning the awards for “Original Music” and “Production Design”.

Elsewhere Gary Oldman won the award for “Leading Actor” for his role as Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour” (the film also won the “Make-up and hair” award) and Allison Janney won the prize for “Supporting Actress” for her role in I, Tonya. Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya won the “Rising Star Award” as voted for by the public.

Ridley Scott received the BAFTA Fellowship from the Duke of Cambridge. His film Blade Runner 2049 won awards for “Cinematography” and “Special visual effects”.
