Transporter TV Series Grinds To A Halt…Again

A television series based on the action-packed French Transporter films written by Luc Besson, has lost its executive producer for the second time in five unfortunate months.

The Cinemax drama will star Prison Break‘s Chris Vance as expert driver Frank Martin, the role played by Jason Statham in the original movies. But without another expert driver heading up production, the project could end up more car crash than slick wheelspinning.

The Tudors producer Steve Shill was brought in as showrunner in August, replacing original executive producers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. But he has now done a bunk and the production is currently without a replacement.

Filming on the ill-fated 12-part action series was halted in October, after series star Vance was injured while filming an action sequence but now that things have finally got underway again, Shill has dropped his bombshell.

François Berléand, who played Frank Martin’s cop ally Tarconi in the Transporter films, will also reprise his role for the television spinoff. The show is now due to resume filming in Toronto in the spring, with the final five episodes still to be shot. Whether the impact of all this chopping and changing will be felt remains to be seen.
