Miquita Oliver of acerbic Popworld and general T4 presenting fame, is in trouble with the taxman.
An unpaid tax bill of around £174, 514.57 means that a Bankruptcy Order may now be her only choice.
A statement released by Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery said: “HMRC [Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs] had petitioned for Miss Oliver to be declared bankrupt for unpaid taxes amounting to £174,514.47.
“Due to the fact this amount had not been collected by the due date set by HMRC a Bankruptcy Order was issued to Miss Oliver in respect to the mentioned amount on 11 November 2011.”
The 27-year-old has been on our screens since 2001 when she co-hosted weekly chart and music show, Popworld, with Simon Amstell.
But when her hosting stint came to an end in 2006, we began to see less and less of her little face. Geoff Carton-Kelly, who has been appointed Oliver’s Trustee, said: “At this stage it is too early to comment on the level of Miss Oliver’s assets and the likely return to creditors.”
The publicist of the former Popworld presenter said: “We can confirm that Miquita Oliver filed for bankruptcy in November 2011. She has many projects in the pipeline both here and in the US for 2012.”
It is not apparent what these projects are at the moment, but we are sure that (as the niece of Neneh Cherry) Miquita will be back on track and in the black in no time…
