Beth Tweddle sealed a fantastic Olympics for Britain’s gymnastics team by claiming a historic bronze in the Uneven Bars this afternoon, but she and a couple of other British sportswomen are at the top of the BBC’s list for this autumn’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Keirin Gold medallist Victoria Pendleton is also being lined up by the Beeb according to The Mirror.
With the cyclist confirming that she’ll definitely retire after London 2012, the Beeb are hopeful that she’ll sign up. Swimmer Rebecaa Addlington is also at the top of Strictly producers list according to reports.
The show enjoyed its most successful year ever in terms of ratings in 2011 and will be hoping to build on that by tapping into the excitement that’s surrounded this month’s Olympic Games.
Radio 2’s Chris Evans, cricketer Michael Vaughan, soap star Charlie Brooks and Westlife’s Nicky Byrne are all rumoured to be taking part in the show’s 10th series.
