But after being dumped by the BBC, hosts Vic and Bob have come up with a wacky new idea for a hit show
Speaking to The Sun, Vic (the one with the glasses) revealed: “We are working on a film and a new TV show for another channel.
“I didn’t think we were required at the BBC anymore so that’s why we decided to go elsewhere.”
He also hinted that the new show will feature the plastic bag-carrying hilarity of Dan Skinner, who played the very strange Angelos Epithemiou on Shooting Stars after George Dawes’ (Matt Lucas) departure.
Vic added: “Shooting Stars is getting on for 20 years old so it was probably a good thing the BBC didn’t want it anymore. We can go on to be more creative.”
Spurred on by his previus show’s axing “creative” Vic already thinks that he and Bob have come up with a new name for the show, dubbing it “the worst name for it ever”.
“We have had a few ideas for names — one is Lucky Winners. I think that probably is the worst name for it ever but we like it. It’s going to be Bob and me and probably Dan Skinner.”
The 53-year-old also suggested that alongside Dan Skinner and suited sidekick, Bob Mortimer, the new show will also seek to continue the pair’s tradition of unearthing fresh comedy talent.
He said: “We have some people in mind but they are people that you would never have heard of as they are new and up-and-coming. We are on the search now.
“We’ve had a lot of apprentices in our time like Matt Lucas, David Walliams, the Fast Show people.
“They come in to our school of comedy and then we push them out the door and they are massive stars. We are just the headmasters who guide them through.”
Comedy headmasters Vic and Bob have not revealed when the tentatively/terribly titled, Lucky Winners, will hit our screens but we look forward to seeing whta they come up with…
